Independent Reading Discussion

Students, read the following Independent Reading Discussion post:

"In the book that i am reading, two girls just got off a bus to their new school. These girls are not human and have magical powers. They hear noises in the distance and go to see what it is. They come across a bunch of little kids annoying a rattlesnake. The older girl recognizes the snake is getting angry and is about to strike at the kids closest to it. She then steps in front of the way and calms the snake down using her mind and the snake slithers away; she left the kids amazed."

I'm left curious about if this older girl with the magical powers will reveal more about her self to the other kids.

This is a good post. It shows that this student is actively reading, and the post makes us curious about the story.

Post again here on your independent reading book! Remember, write a 50 word minimum post about your book. You may include a prediction about what you think will happen the next time you pick your book up.

Today we kick off our ELA Lab blog. We'll start by sharing our thoughts about what's in the news lately.

In sports, we have completed the first week of the NFL playoffs.

In national news we have the inauguration of 112th U.S. Congress. Sadly, one of the U.S. congressional representatives was shot in Arizona on Saturday, along with more than a dozen other people.
